Hey I have some great news!!! Remember last time I posted here I had a dying flame angel that I though it was hopeless for(and so did everyone else). Well the meds didnt work and under the advice of my LFS he told me to try and adding a double dose of Cycle every week along with a 5% water change....IT WORKED! In three weeks the flames eyes are clear again and he is regenerating new fins! Can you believe that Cycle can be used as a med? He said that he has had other customers also cure bacteria infections with cycle...He couldnt even believe it worked though with how bad my flame was. I went back and we decided it was finally time to add a fish so i picked out a radiant yellow tang. Now if everything goes well I am planning to add anoother fish next week...what do you guys thing would be the best addition for my tank. Now i do plan to keep a reef and I want something that is stunning...Please help me!!!!
THanks for everyone help!

That GREAT! I'm glad to see your flame came around. I would go slow since you just had a problem. Do you quarantine? You should wait about a month or two before adding another fish. This way, you'll know everything is fine. PATIENCE...

I totally agree with the advice given by Tacks. Give your fish and tank time to really recover.
But when your tank is ready, I have had a coral beauty for 6 years, and she is still one of the most beautiful fish in the tank. (The color purple goes good with red as well, :D) She has been hardy and care free. Also, if you like Hawkfish, I would recommend the Flame Hawk. Bright red and flashy, with wonderful personalities. I have mine with a fully stocked clean-up crew, and a scarlet cleaner shrimp that cleans him all the time!
So, be patient, have fun, and use this time to read and research your next aquisitions. You won't be sorry, and neither will your fish. GREAT news on the recovery of your Flame, the Fish Gods are smiling ;)

Sounds like it may have been under stress because of the water conditions, but I didnt get a chance to see your earlier post.

WOW well I for one have to say, thank you thank you thank you. My system makes it almost impossible to catch my fish, since there are so many places to hide. I Can't use meds in the tank since the life is so diverse. So, when it comes to treating a sick fish I'm basically screwed. This idea may just work, and I'll try it when the need arises. :D :D :D :D

THATS Great!!! how big is the tang? he would love a cleaner shrimp if you dont have one.these guys dont do well in new setups they do better in large well matured tanks with lots of good algea to feed on, thats why everyone says to add the tang last[ they are pretty] ,,,cya :)

Wouldn't the hawk eat the shrimp? My spotted hawk ate my cleaner shrimp. Now I'm afraid to put any kind of shrimp. :(

There is achance of it,but the cleaner shrimp does an awsume job , but you never know my niger or my snowflake might make a snack out of mine but hasent yet , they are very benificial but , can be pricy[ we paid 30 bucks for ours] good luck :)

Yeah there is no reason not to try it. Every saturday I did a 5 gal H20 change than I added 12 caps of cycle to the replacement H20...It worked great! After the first week he started swimmimg normally again! The tang is pretty large...he is about 4" but my lfs had him for a month and new for a fact he was completely healthy(which influenced my decidoin the most) :) How much should I look to spend for a cleaner shrimp? My LFS sells them for 12.95..is that a good price?
Thanks for everyones help and I hope this helps a couple of other people in a bind...

someone above posted you could get a coral beauty angel. i wouldnt recommend that, as two dwarf angels will not get along too well. but congratulations on your fish, and take things slow.

Pardon my ignorance but what is "cycle?"
Is this some chemicals that you add when you change water? Is it a specific brand of product?

I have three dwarf angels in my tank. All have been living peacefully together for over five years. A Flame Angel, a Coral Beauty and a Half Black.
Unlike their counterparts, the dwarfs do fine with one another.
Maybe my experience is the exception, although I don't think so. My Flame Hawk never has bothered the cleaner shrimp, in fact, he enjoys his services several times a day. Quite something to watch!

I agree that more than one dwarf angel will fight. I don't think it's a good idea to be recomending cycle to others just yet. I would still use the traditional methods.

Im not trying to get everyone to switch to only cycle here...im just passing this on that if regualr meds dont work for you than this is a good altenative...One correction though...I used it to cure fin rot, a bacteria infection not parasites. Anyways its worth a try
