More than likely what has happened is the impeller has picked up some sand and has been ground down a little bit someplace and is begining to wobble on the shaft. A new one is about 10 bucks anyplace and more than likely will solve the issuse. I went thru 2 sets on mine over 10 years I had them running now running a HOB overflow and goining into a wet dry filter maybe next yeat get a sump and fuge going instead of the system I am running.

Ihave fixed many noisy filters with new impellers.

Marineland gives awesome support... perhaps their parts department can help you figure out what you need to git'er working right again.
You should be able to expect more than 5-6 years from one...
Thanks for the idea. I contacted marine land and told them what is happening and how long I have had the filter. Now they are sending me a new impeller and impeller housing for free
!! Talk about customer service, they apologized that this is happening and are hooking me up. I would not have expected that since it is 5 years old but they do stand behind there products.
