Noisy Mak4 is Iwaki Better?

Hello All:
I have a Gen X Mak4 pump and it is a bit noisy, is the Iwaki 55 or 40 any better?
If you own these two pumps or just even one let me know, I was thinking of getting rid of the Mak4 and replacing it with Iwaki if its much quieter.

Alex,
IMO the 30 is quieter but the 40 and 55 are not. The Mak4 is a good pump. To get one quieter is difficult.
Tell us how you have it mounted. maybe it's a vibration problem.

Thanks for your reply, the pump is on a rubber base and it is not a vibration problem, the wife is the one that complains in the evening even though the tank is in the living room. I guess I shall get some sound board and line the inside of my cabinet.

Hello,
I am new to the hobby and am just setting up a 125 gallon tank. I bought a Dolphin DP 900 pump and set it up with water, etc this week. The pump is very strong and extremely quiet. We can't hear it at all. We did intall it as a submersible, inside the sump. I don't know how it would sound outside of the pump, but they claim to run quieter and cooler than other pumps.
Might be worth a look.
