Welcome to the boards.
I'll have to check out Fish Galleria, never been there.
Dallas North has good selection, but they are overpriced (a quick observation of their customers will show you why... I've never been in a store with more people who had fish services maintain their tanks) and they will sell you anything. They also don't seem to QT there fish at all.
Honestly, our selection in the metroplex is weak.

Agree with everything you just said
Especially about DN
But i have been to the Fish Gallery. One LFS is very good, name is Webster, he is very helpful. They take frags for store credit, and give you more then most LFS for them. Some weeks they have alot of fish, and some nice corals, other times they are pretty lean on everything, guess that means they are doing a good business.

Good question. I need to know too. I am close to denton also. I saw in the yellow pages a place called Fish and Chirps(sp) but I havent been there to check it out yet though. I am just getting my supplies in, but once I do i'll be on the hunt. Besides, I dont wanna drive way over to Dallas North Aquarium everytime I need something.

There are several in that area I believe but I have just heard good things about Dallas North A better place to ask is the DFW marine society which is a good club you can google

There is a couple in the ridgemar area that are pretty cool. But I've never bought any salt water fish from either of them because I'm too far away. Fish Place and Aquarium world. But they aren't all that big.

The employees of Fish and Chirps are very rude and there fish knowledge and the condition of the fish seems poor. The had a flame red hawk fish priced at 69 dollars and i have seen it every where else for 39 and under. The Fishman in denton is on mckinney street and they are the most helpful people i have yet to meet not to mention i go there almost daily to look at fish and ask questions, unfortunately they will be closing at the end of the month. A new fish store is opening in lewisville in 2 to 3 weeks and it is supposedly very nice.

I doubt they will let me post the link on here, but there is a list on the internet of LFS in the DFW area. I just googled dfw area fish stores and found it. There are some really cool ones. I found one in arlington on cooper that had a 1000 gallon square tank that was spectacular and had a decent selection of corals. not many fish tho

Thanks to all who have replied in this thread! It is really hard to find a good LFS.
I have visited the Fish Gallery on Greenville a few times, they were nice and helpful. Plus all of their fish looked pretty good. I like to check out my LFS before I buy, and I will be purchasing something if I don't buy from this website first...lol.
I know that not many LFS's will offer any guarantees on their swf, but the Fish Gallery owner and (I am not sure the other guy's name), but they said that they will give a 24-48 hour guarantee just as a good measure. Not like some other places (down garland road and Buckner road...the BP). A couple of guys there are really top notch, but the others (especially the owner), will sell you anything...no matter what. I won't be going there anymore!
Oh, the D. N. A. is very expensive, and are not always willing to help you. (my mom always said, "never beg anyone to take your money").

I bought a clown I was hoping to mate with my GSM and it didn't work out. I took it back to the fish gallery and they gave me my money back. That was a nice surprise. I also bought an orange sun coral that had i yellow polop and because of that different coloration they gave me 10.00 off, that was totally unexpected. I also bought a fish that had a slight curve on its spine and they gave it to me half price. Good LFS in my opinion.

Do you feel that way too. Every fish store I've ever been at in houston feels like that. They don't really help you. Then just say yes or usually yes it will work. Without good information. They don't take time to show you. I have a 180 gallon that I'm stocking in the next couple of months I'll buy from probably one person even if you fish are too expensive if you really take time to give me good information and give me a chance to make up my mind. I'm a salesman at a store and lsf treat me like they train us to treat people. (I'm ranked 3rd in the district) selling the way I want to be sold. Not the way they train us. They would sell their mom a shark and say yeah it will be good in a 75 gallon you don't need it any bigger. Drives me nuts. I'm just going to order everything online.
