Hi,
I had an Eclipse top with the filter/bio wheel in it once......I finally got rid of it and replaced it with an under the tank canister filter by Filstar. I love it because it is quiet, very efficient, and easy to clean. When I had the Eclipse top I could never find a protien skimmer that would fit, and the filter media area used to let lots of particals pass right back into the tank. I am happy to say that Marine Land recently started to sell the biowheels without the filter that can be used with almost any canister filter that you buy. I bought one and hooked it up to my Filstar for extra biological filtration. I also like it because it adds more oxygen to the tank water when I use the biowheel. I know that the Eclipse tops best feature is their pretty look, not good mechanical filtration properties. Good luck, Lesley
