Not sure if I should risk it?

My LFS has had a Mandarin in a 30G for about 2-3 months now! There might be 30lbs of LR in there if that and I noticed over time it's getting skinnier and skinnier. I've planned on getting one for about 2 years now but have held off due to tank size and lack of LR. Welp for 6 months now I've had my 110 set up with 160lbs+ of LR. I would buy the mandarin in a heartbeat except fot the fact I still don't see any pods in my tank. Do you think it would be wise to try to add this one to my tank? On one hand it's starving to death anyway but on the other I'd hate to throw away money on something I'm not prepared for. One reason for the tank upgrade was to get a mandarin but I had my mind made up not to get one till I knew my tank was ready (crawling with pods), but seeing that poor little guy in there just kills me. Any advice?

 I'm only a newbie, but I'd skip on the Mandrin for now. I'm VERY picky on what I allow in my tank and usually try to wait for exceptional examples of whatever I want to buy to show up at my LFS.

To me it's a toss-up, you may never think there is enough pods to keep one. Try looking in your tank after lights out and you will probably see more pods than you think. But if that mandrain isskinny already he might be too far gone to save.

I thought the same thing, that I didn't have enough to keep one heatly well first I bought a moon light just so I could see how many pods I did have after lights go out and I was happy to see them little things all over the place :jumping: so now I am a happy person and a owner of a mandrain, he also eats brine shrimp and some flake off an on I buy the mandrain (Matt) some live brine once a week as a treat :D for him and all the other fish in the tank they love it ..
