'Nother ID Please...

You'd think I'd know by now what all I have in my tank:rolleyes: , but it seems that every time I get the batteries on my flashlight recharged, I find something new. Whatever this thig is, it's very tiny and on the glass, so I assume it's an algae eater. I have lots of them in the tank. I thought it was a limpet when I saw the first one, so I didn't think much of it, then tonight I notice a ton of 'em so I am back to being clueless. Everybody loves the ID threads!!!

Well lemme point out that what you see is the underside of the critter. The colors make it look like its shell would be shaped like a limpet, but the part you see is flat. Also, it "crawls" like a pod. It doesn't slide like a limpet or snail, and when the PH hits them, they fly right off...
Monti, I did a search on sand sifting isopod and didn't have any luck, can you remember where you learned about them??

sandskater isopod, there it is! i have a few in my fuge that have made it to the main tank, breeding kinda fast, but i like them, differnt then your normal cope and amphi, and way better then a cirro iso, lol, also eat some of the deterius from the sand.

I have those too but they are much smaller than those.

Actually, I don't think you realize how small they are. In the pic, the camera is right on top of them, I'd say they are about half the size of a grain of rice. Like said before, I never even noticed them til last night.
I put seriolinidae in my google search and got a lot more info on them... Turns out they are rare in the aquarium. I think I'm gonna start a retail. LOL
