They don't have individual reflectors or they don't have good reflectors? This is what the product info says:
Retro Fit Kit. Remote control light comes with a programmable remote control that can automatically turn on/off 3 different light stages (4- T5/4-T5/Moon Lights) at the time you set, or you can manually turn on/off lights when ever you want. One power cord and one light switch. Comes with eight 54 watt bulbs (four actinic and four 10000K), eight 1 watt Moon Lights, and individual German mirror polished aluminum reflectors.
Power: 440 Watt
Dimensions: 47 1/2in x 11½in x 1½in
Thank you Justin for bearing with me...I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly.

The Pro claims to have individual reflectors too, but it's a single piece so go figure
.
Looking at pictures of the Catalina's reflectors and something like an Icecap, there is a big difference in the quality of the reflector. Also, the endcaps on the Catalina look more or less like plugs, and don't look nearly as safe as the water-tight endcaps on an Icecap or TEK. I think you'd have issues with those.
It does have some cool features like the remotes, but I think you'd be much better in the long run with something else.

Thanks alot...It was worth a shot.
My LFS guy says he knows someone who can get ahold of 6bulb w/ individual reflectors for $150ish so I want to see what thats all about. He said something about the brand being Cyclops or something along those lines. I will have to get more info on them before I think about it but at that price I would be looking at putting 2 of them on the tank if they fit. That would give me 12x54w which I would think would be sufficient even if they lacked in the reflectors a little. We will see though.

Like I said I am going to check it out before I commit to buying it. He is supposed to be giving me a website for it next time I stop in. He said that he has had quite a few people order them and they have been very happy with the quality.

for what its worth, I have the extreme pro 6 lamp fixture. It is just one reflector but it's bent, formed around each lamp in a way that its like 6 individual reflectors. Its awesome on my 22" deep 37

What makes these not usable in canopies? The size or the heat? I ask because my canopy is being built to 49.5" x 20" inside.
Because the manual says so! Its because of the way they have the fan flow layout on the extreme and pro. Having a 1/4" or less on each side of the canopy is not enough for the intake or exhaust to function correctly. However, if you drilled a large enough hole on each side of the canopy where the intake and exhaust are located on the fixture that may be good enough. But who wants to do that?
It is my understanding that the Sundial has the same features as the extreme but is built correctly for canopies without modification because the exhaust fans are on the rear of the light fixture NOT on the sides.
Just my $0.02

They put it in the manual for a reason.....I for one would definitely NOT want my canopy to start on fire if that was possible.
Especially since I would most likely be in class while it happened. It wouldn't be too much of an eyesore to have fans/vents on the side of your canopy as long as you aesthetically designed it into your canopy plan. I was going to do this until I decided to just leave the top of the canopy open other than maybe some mesh to cover it (since its trimmed in black anyways) in case there is too much light coming out the top.
I agree that you definitely don't want to obstruct the flow of the exhaust fan though, not only would it make the fixture overheat but it would most likely relocate that heat to the aquarium.
I am still trying to figure out what to do with lights though. I know I am going to talk to the guy either Friday or Saturday to check out those lights, but it all depends on if I want to waste my precious time between classes and work driving around.
