There's alot of naysayers out there that don't understand T5HOs... if you would have got that pos 2bulb single reflector for both bulbs coralife fixture, I would have said no.. don't keep any corals or clams lol...but you got a good fixture which can keep anything under it granted your water parameters are good.
you'll be fine...
Ask him next time if you need to upgrade your "fluval 405" to a bigger eheim canister filter next time for your 10gallon so you can get more flow and see how he reacts..if he just tries to sell you crap, then you know his true intentions and intelligence lol...
p.s. a fluval 405 would blast everything in the tank LOL...

I wouldn't keep any sort of HIGH light demanding clams or corals under there; meaning Croceas mainly. My experience with T5s and Croceas is only several hundred Croceas kept under several dozen fixtures over a period of 15 years though...........
Croceas carry a strand of zooxanthellae that needs a certain amount of PAR energy ANY other radiation to sustain based on the other "organisms" that live in their mantle. Those spots on the mantle that look like eyes, are really ALL OVER the mantle on Croceas in VERY tight bunches (for lack of a better term). Iridophores are made of Irides, that are made of Iride plates that are stacked to make these areas. The introduction of a hyaline structure is what makes an eye technically an eye; until then they are just Iridophores.
