So the guy couldn't remember making a statement he felt the need to contact the newspaper to have scrubbed from an article?

The very definition of "Politician" is liar.

You left a few off that list. Kennedy, Ike, Truman, Roosevelt... So far Obama has made them look like amateurs.

Point well taken. Let's not forget Wilson and Roosevelt the 1st as well. Goes to show that even politicians can learn from experience.
I'll bet real money that regardless what party the next president comes from, he/she will outdo Obama as well.

what is really wrong here is that the title of this thread doesn't even remotely surprise me.
As I have said before....politicians should be held accountable for the things that they "care about" when they are running for office. If those things haven't shown improvement, they should not be allowed to run again and they should have to pay back any and all money that they received while in office. If we started to hold them accountable...fewer people would run and PERHAPS we would wind up with people that actually cared about this country in office and could actually see REAL change!!!
