BET ( Black Entertainment T.V.)
The BLACK Miss America Pageant...You CANT be white and be in it , but you CAN be Black in the "Miss America Pageant"

I don't want to bore everyone and list the HUNDREDS of other's.....
I feel offended when a black man calls another black man a "nigga"
Makes me very uncomfortable....but I guess its ok? Why can't I say you are a racist when you ( and I mean people in general) ask me if I am in the MOB???? because I am Italian..... Long winded point but i am still talking about why people think CFR made a racist statement. He did not in my opinion

I always find these statements interesting, but also ignorant... the reason why those things exist is because of the exclusion of african americans in/on television... as well as in national beauty pagents... among the other organizations developed for those reasons... there is nothing racist about them... people that have a realistic grasp of history understand this.
I don't believe these men or racist, I don't believe they are against those outside of their race in any fashion, but want equal treatment, due process, and equal access and opportunity for those they represent. There is a big difference from that and a racist. Do I believe there methods are always progressive... no.. but I do believe their contributions are required.
Lastly, Obama... he will surrond himself with the best people available, I definetely can't say the same for McCain. He already has people like Powell and Buffet willing to support him... And again if you look at the strength and organizational capablities of his campaign... I wouldn't be concerned at all about a lack of bright and exceptionally qualified Cabinet members.

Not a chance on the two you listed, maybe Jesse Jackson Jr.
He will surround himself with smart people in the industries. Like any good business manager would. If the running of his campaign is any indication of how he will manage as a President, then it will be virtually flawless. Even you Obama opponents have to agree he has run his campaign 1000% smarter and better than McCain.
Nice insight... I think Jessie Jackson Jr is a very qualified congressman... I think Harold Ford Jr is also a very qualified congressman...as far as young upcoming and qualifed african americans in Congress.. These two seem to meet the vision of what Obama would look for...
But as I have been saying... 100% agree with the way the campaigns have been ran... this should tell you what those who are "shaky" of Obama being President... He is successful in getting things done... and finding qualified people... who do the same..

Well, Jesse Jackson has made some highly publicized anti-semitic remarks. Isn't this a form of bigotry? Or are you distinguishing racism from anti-semitism?

I do think there is a difference... the remarks I remember were sparked by a feud during his presidential bid with members of a Jewish organization as well as their influence in particular industries and contributing to exclusive pracitces ... Do I think he or they would treat people different because of their ethnicity... no.
but I do agree that statements were bigoted... and based on a percieved threat, not because of a superior or exclusionary/segregated way of thinking...

well for starters I didn't mention Farrakhan... and I am also not saying minorities can't be racist.. or other ethinic groups..
people use the racist term so freely now... which in many cases its unwarranted...

comments were bigoted... but I don't think he is racist... but it really doesn't matter... what matters is you don't have to worry about Obama having people who are unqualified serving in his Cabinet.
I will add one last thing about Jackson... he is from a different era... walked step by step w/ MLK Jr.. if he does have some animosity I can kinda understand... given the things he witnessed and was a part of...

Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion: intolerance, prejudice. See like/dislike.
The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

So which is which ? Sounds interchangeable to me . Like they go hand in hand .

Bigots, I believe, practice racism; both of which are learned behaviors, starting in infancy. Bigots usually show no fear in their beliefs; with racists hiding behind them......
