Ocean Clear filters..good or crap!

One of these is listed on CL.... I have a large tank 280G, are these things any good or not needed?

If I had a 280G, I would probably get one. They seem professional and I have seen them in use at fish stores. Lot's of surface area on the filter, plus the filter looks durable, it could have some real good extra benefits for your system in my opinion. How much?

if it is for a reef i would say no go because they are very efficient at converting waste down to nitrates. many people with large predator tanks use them.
