Oceanic bio-cube 14 gallon frustration

From lurking around the message boards for a while, I realize that many of you have the bio-cube. While I really like the looks of it, I am extremely frustrated with leaks.
The first leak was at the top front of the tank and easily corrected with a little silicon. Now I have a leak somewhere in the vicinity of my sump that is dripping out enough water to go from the max line on the sump to at times below the minimum which causes it to blow lots of little bubbles. I found one of my damsels covered with these bubbles Saturday night, and it died not long afterwards. Sunday Morning, I had to get up to add water at dark-thirty, unintentionally stressed my featherduster out enough to blow it crown. Ugh!! (no I didn't turn the light on to see what I was doing).
Has anyone else a similar problem? Suggestions?

Sorry to hear abotu the problems you are having with the tank. I had my own set of problems with a 14gl Biocube, not leaks but faulty lighting and fans. I have heard many tales about the problems with these tanks. Unfortunatly you already have invested time and money into ti so now you need to remidy any problems in order to make it work for you.
Maybe remove all the livestock to some buckets or large tupperware with a heataer and powerheads and resilicone the tank. Bout all I can offer.
Personally I would never waste my money on one again nor recomend one, but that does not help your situation out any.

Thanks. I have been having the issue with the fan to the daylights intermittenly on top of the leak issues. I have been in touch with Oceanic trying to resolve these various issues, so I am hoping something will come about. Even though I got the tank and stand for a really good price, that good price is not so great in my opinion now with the issues I am having with it. I have been drooling over the Red Sea Max 34 gallon complete package, so I may just save my pennies until I can get that one. :(

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I think oceanic will take care of you, I know they took care of me. Stick with the Biocube, read up on a bunch of our threads on how to mod them and you will be good to go, really make that good price worth it

Same deal here, well just the ballast for me, and Nick took care of it VERY quickly.

Thanks for the encouragement. I love how it is looking, but am really frustrated. The water quality is great, have lots of pods in the tank itself and hanging out in the bio-balls. I think that is pretty good for going on 8 weeks old.
So more venting...
Today, I can't find my little yellow clown goby. I have been concerned because I never see him eat. He isn't in any of his lounging spots, so I am afraid that he didn't make it.
LFS said that they never saw him eat either when I voiced my concerns a few days before the bubble madness. They stated that he had been there for at least a month because he was so small that unless you looked really had you couldn't find him in the tank. I didn't mind that because he decided that he'd lounge in my LR front and center. I hope he just has decided to hide, but my instinct says other wise.
Also discovered some bristle worms had hitched a ride in the empty shells I have for the hermit crabs. The one that I have seen is about 2". Should I be concerned? I am wanting to get a bicolor pseudomonas (sp?), but LFS has marine ich or something going on, so not buying fish unless I can get them right as they come in on a delivery. There is another LFS, but they don't keep the store clean enough to suit me so hesitant to buy fish there, even though the tanks are fairly nice. I know a couple of people who have gotten fish there with no problems
The worms are also in the 2 gallon tank I have set up a work. I am not worried about these because it is a display/teaching tank for the students. This will be a LR and invertebrate only tank. If I can get it to work. It is an interesting challenge to commandeer every day items and re purpose them. I'll post pictures of this, and some of my other re purposed things, when I have it further along. Set it up about 2 weeks ago. Doing well so far. Fingers crossed.
I included a picture of my tank so far. I will probably add another small piece or two of LR. The right hand side has bare spots. I'm also going to replace the heater, it isn't holding temperature where I want it suddenly.
Anyway... Thanks for listening and all of the great information that I have found on here. I look forward to seeing more of y'alls tanks blossom.

First off that is beautiful rock!!!!
Secondly on the leak issue, do you see the water on the outside of the tank? Are you sure you are just not experiencing evaporation?

Never had any leak issues with mine... Although I never did fill the one that dropped on my dinning room floor and shattered into a million pieces. I would be that one would of leaked. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. After Oceanic replaced mine for me at no cost... I have had no issues with any of it including the fans and ballasts.

My 29 gallon is 7 months old and other then needing both of the ballasts replaced, I havent had a problem. I think you if you contact Oceanic that they would replace your tank. They were easy to deal with and I dont have anything bad to say about them. I love mine!
