I already know the answer but humor me please.
Do you completely submerge an oceanic bio cube skimmer?
Or....
Do you place the skimmer collection cup above the surface of the water line?

LOL ... just above the surface of the water line.
Be careful with them. You have to change the airstone at least once a month for it to work properly. I even had to change my airline tubing every few months. I finally gave up and took it out. Haven't noticed a difference yet.

There is debate in the Neptune household on how to set up a skimmer.
Evidently your supposed to set them up submerged. T His is a great way to make foam

Whatever. I guess it takes someone other than my self to prove that this is completely contrary to what skimmers do and how they work. So if more people could humor me and explain why you want to set them up with the collection cup above the surface of the water, we can get this thing set up right and working.
At the moment it is submerged under water and I'm just being a "know it all" in pointing out that it isn't set up right.

Okay. Well put it this way. It's a SKIMMER, it's supposed to SKIM the top of the water. It can't SKIM if it's SUBMERGED. If it's submerged, it's just an airstone that will create microbubbles, something you do not want in a reef tank.

just dont go past 30 gal though. they really dont do that great of a job as far as skimmers go. Honestly though they really are complete garbage. I got it set up right and it wont even put out any bubbles. I took the airline off and blew as hard as I could intoit. and it barly made any bubbles. The pump is simply too weak to handle the stone.
