thats crazy, it sounds like my situation EXACTLY. i will go to the store and get the sponge. ill do a 50 % water change with ro and let you know what happens.

I started my tank with tap water, and I fought algea for 6 months at least. Started using RO as soon as I found out about the Tap water problems, but it still took some time to not have the algea.
I switched to Oceanic a couple of months ago, and so far have had great results.
