i have a pair of true percs....
and im glad i chose them over the false percs.
Brighter in color.....
More hosting behavior... Will truely host almost anything.
the ocellaris are just plain dull in color.

I prefer the true percs. although I do have 2 false percs. LOL (just couldnt get my hands on some true percs. at the time)
I read in a book or magazine somewhere that true percs. dont get as big as fasle percs. if that helps with the size.
Would also think getting a true perc to eat might be slighty more difficult than a tank raised perc.
And like Jesses89 said they are quicker to host since its their nature in the wild. That's also a sight. :)

True percs wont be as easy to get feeding at first....
as they will NOT leave whatever they are hosting to get any flakes or w/e you are feeding.. they might snatch something that passed by them but once they get used to the surroundings... they will eat ANYTHING.

funny that you ask that...
that was the first thing mine hosted... frogspawn lol
i would say no, they dont need an anemone to survive...
Will they live much happier with one? yes
mine have gone from..
Frogspawn to my leather toadstool... after the leather they went to the bubble coral...
and finally to my alveopora.... where they found a permanent home there...

I have 2 true percs. They have not hosted anything in the tank. they have been in there for like 5 months now. I even added 2 anemone's to the tank and they totally ignored them so i removed them.. ( plus i didnt want them to craok and kill the tank like i have had one do in the past ) The 2 just hang with each other all the time. They never get more than 5" away from each other. Even still i love the little critters though, very bright orange, white. Much nicer than the false percs.

Perculas are more aggressive than Ocellaris. As for Percs harder to get to eat , not really , they tend to take a little longer to get used to the new surroundings . As for percs hosting faster or to anything and Ocellaris not doing so , fish have personalities like people do each are different and a lot depends how long they sit in the LFS . There is no promise that a clown will host, some do quickly and some never do . The only thing a clown benefits from an anemone is a safe place to go and a nice bed . The anemone is the one that will be more happy with the presence of a clown .
