O.k. go ahead laugh now I got sucked into buying a seaclone 150 (look for my post in biggest mistakes youve made in the hobby a bit later...lol) and now Im trying to buy a skimmer that actually works I like the things I have read about the octopus HOB skimmers so I think that is where Im going but cant seem to settle on which one there are some newer models out too that I cant even seem to find anywhere anyone have any ideas??? any help would be greatly appreciated
oh the other thing Im concerned about is the clearance between the valve on certain models and my light fixture scince it completely covers the top of my tank its not moveable and is only sits about 2" off the top anyone have any experiance with that??

Check out the Warner Marine Research HOB skimmers. Also another excellent choice that work as well if not better IMO than an Octo HOB

I looked at the warner's but at about 319 its like a 100 more than the new oct. 800s but the biggest thing is that the site says est release is mid march....really wanting to get something done before then....

The 800S has been out since last September. I have one and it is a powerful skimmer. It will not work with your light if you only have two inches of clearance.
I ended up getting a reef ready tank and went to a sump skimmer. Many of the skimmers will fit under a factory height stand.

I have looked around quite a bit and have not found many complaints about them.... other than the occasional person upset at the fact that they have to clean it every 6 mo. or so lol....with this hobby Im happy that I dont have to clean it daily like most everything else lol anyway mine mounts in the sump so I dont see it flooding my floor as of right now its working like a champ!!!

That was just an example of one particular guy I was reading his post and he was whining cause one guy told him it should be completely cleaned at least twice a year ofcoarse the collection cup has to be cleaned more than that....
