i was thinking of getting one once my wife and i get a house early next year, at other sites it says expert only, was he hard to aclimate, and how did the car ride home go, i would be amazed if he didnt ink in the bag..
I have consulted with my friend who raised octos while he was studying marine bio...said they are NOT hard to keep...but are "fragile" shippers.
I would say I took extra time to acclimate him (about 5-6 hours) just to be safe...
I've read they are sensitive to metals/nitrates...my friend says he kept an octo for over a year in a tank with moderate nitrates and had no problems.
They supposedly have short life spans (1 to 2 years) and die quickly after they have mated.
Mine is eating like a pig. It only took a day or two...but sometimes I guess it takes up to 2 weeks for them to eat/explore.
I'm phoning my friend about once a day so far to make sure I'm doing this right...since I have him as a resource, I'm using it!
