Today I noticed what appears to be a small wad of gumlike stuff on one small spot on my tank. I thought "ok, thats probably just junk" so I reach in to collect and behold it has an ARM.. or tentacle. But only one. Any thoughts on what this thing may be? Gum that has an arm? yikes

Its so small and my camera so so bad I can't seem to get a good picture of it. Basically, Its like a pink top of a Hershey kiss. Its got a bent point and where the base touches the glass its spread out and inside that are little white dots or parts that are circular like pellets.
These are horrible shots sorry. Hope you can make something out of them. It has no shell just like a tail of something cut off and attached to my glass. Its really strange.

Oh Dood... remove the link. That's the original front that isn't SWF safe. The hitchhikers page is safe.....
I appreciate it it though....

You're going to have a hard time finding a pic of one that looks like yours, but could it be a Foraminifera?
Is it moving around?
EDIT: One of these with only one "tentacle"? Foraminifera pic

It kinda looks like the Waminoa sp. However its sort of like slicing off a snails little antennae. Then spackling it on the glass. The thing has these little sphere things inside it and it kinda looks like plastic pressed to the glass with its little arm thing extended. It has been there a week and has yet to move at all.

Well technically if it's just on the glass it can't be doing any harm right? I don't mean forget about it but it's kind of interesting right now so just keep an eye on it. But Cran's the expert ^.^
I know this is slightly off topic but I was looking at the hitchhiker guide and I was wondering if you could cultivate Polychaete Cirratulid or hair worms?

your pic looks to me like a one armed Asterina Starfish. They can have only one arm or many arms. When they only have a couple arms they dont look too much like starfish.
