Odd Question

Alright. I have a very odd question.
I am wanting to bomb the house for spiders here pretty soon. We get black widows where I live and I am terrified of them. Have never seen one in the house and I want to keep it that way. But I got to thinking about protecting my tanks. I was thinking of covering them completely with loose plastic that would drape to the floor. Do you think that would be sufficient? Or should I just not risk it at all? Or any other ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hmm, I would think you would have to make sure the plastic is draped to the floor on every side of the tank and I would put books or something around it to kinda seal it off.
PS. I hate spiders too! :scared:

That's kind of what I am thinking. I also have to weigh some things. Which do I love more? My tanks? Or emergency room treatment for a really, really nasty spider bite.

Cover tank with plastic and turn off skimmer and then bombs away......
Or your right, better to be safe and just send them down the hill to my tank for safe keeping......LOL

If you do need to house something, I can babbysit if you have anything super sensitive. But I really dont think there will be any problem if you plastic the tank off and make sure the skimmer is off.

Really, really, really appreciate the offer. I may look you up this summer when I go on vacation. And the same goes for you. It's hard to find anyone around here who 1- has salt tanks and 2-can actually take care of them. By the way, algae prob is almost no more-knock on wood. Once I have everything good and cleaned up for a while, we should do some trading. I am just afraid to send you some algae. :notsure: I got some plants for the fuge a few months ago in reno and that's when the algae and all of the bleeping apts started.

I am going back to

[hr]
again in a few months. we might indeed have a trade of services.
Algea doesnt last in my tank I toss in gobs of for the crabs and its non existant in two days. I do break the rules and keep Halimidia in the DT but thats it.
We really should do some trading. I have a few frags, the purple w/blue mouth and brown with orange mouth Zoo from the pics I posted in the Photography thread. Next time your coming down the hill for some reason give me a ring and ill have them bagged up for ya. I am stones throw from 395/50 intersection.

I am ALWAYS ready for a trip out of here! Especially since it has been snowing all weekend.
Went to LFS in Shingle springs yest. OK, I guess it's not really local. Ha! ever been there?

No I always just drive past on the way to Sac. Prices around that neighborhood leave me walking bowlegged most times. When local I always go to Gills in Reno or Jans down here. She is really starting to expand her selection. I roll in there after Physical therapy somedays and ID something goofy she got from a dist. You should give her another look, her husbandry is sometimes scary but she has has that shop for 50 years so its hard to tell her anythign new.

I always have to leave my checkbook in the car in shingle springs. Just like to look. No way would I pay 18.99 for an emerald crab!
I found an awesome anemone at Jan's before. I loved it. It's the one that just comitted suicide in my powerhead a while ago.
Gills? Is that on lakeside in Reno? Do you ever use the other one in carson? Can I post names of the stores on here?

Yeah Carson Aquarium#5 yeah they do have some very nice items. I remember when Mike opened that shop. He just always seems out of stock.
He does currently have a 2ft Acro sitting on consignment for 275 I want to get, but its totally browned out so I dont know If I would spend that kind of money for a headache trying to get it to color up again.
And no on Lakside- thats Larry's place. O'fishal, they have a reputation for snootiness and being elitists. Larry is a good guy when you get to know him though. His staff does know thier stuff but they are known for being rude and elitists.
Gills, or "Gill's Rock n Reef" is new. Matt and His Wife Tammy Opened the place up only about 4 months ago. I consider Matt a pretty good friend and since he eats sleeps and breaths the place, I always go in and chew the fat with him. We are complete fishdorks together and always argue about max ppm before saturation of Cal or otherwise useless waste of time.
They are on corner of Virginia and Moana on north side of shopping complext with Atlantis.

Good to know! I had no idea there was another one in reno. And you are so right about the snooty thing, I had to laugh. There is one guy there that I actually trust his answers to my questions. Sometimes (and this is really mean) I'll ask the others a few questions that I already know the answers to just to see if they are bs'ing me. It's kind of fun.
I get my phytofeast at carson #5 and sometimes frags. Since they don't open up until late in the afternoon, it's tough to get there. That huge anemone and clown up front kill me. Check out his web site. There have been a few frags on there for $1 and $2. But I don't know if they will still honor that or not since those same pics have been up for months.
I'll take some pics of my corals this week and email em to ya. Take a look and see if there is anything you want. I was gonna frag the rhodactis the other day, but chickened out.
I'll have to try Gill's.

Carson Aquarium is hard to get to since they have such goofey hours but Mike really does make it up with sincerity. He is always honest and while he is not as knowledgeable as some shops, he freely admits and shares what he DOES know. Thats a rarity. But respectable.
Um....been a while since you were there? That anenome died a while back.
Instead of me picking, you just bring something you have extra of that wont hurt your reef. You saw pics of mine from the photo-thread so just try to find something that I dont have in there already. Also when your down here if theres something you like then I am sure I can take a piece. Doesnt have to be all about ----for-tat. I like to share and if theres something you like I am sure we can just catch up on another trade.

Don't know if this is to late or not. DO NOT BOMB THE HOUSE. If you think about it; it covers everything in chemical. So... 2 days later you touch the wall and then touch your face; bamm chemical/pesticide on your face. Covering the tank is an option but is not a good one as you cannot seal it good enough.
