they are electronic they make no noise. they get a decent amount of heat to them but they are built for that.
I built my 150w pendant for $100 $34 for the reflector with the DE socket and $60 for the ballast

hmmm then I would have to find some sort of cover/heat sink.
I'm not a fan of having a ballast sit bare like that with wires hanging out/off of it.
I'm very an@l retentive when it comes to looks and functionality.
