Odyssea lights

i ran into an ad in tfh magazine and am noticing that Odyssea lights are very cheaply priced. i want to buy a mh light for a 50gal sw reef and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the company who sells them before i give them my money -- any comments would be helpful

yea i bought a light from them and about 2 months after i bought it the ballast went bad i wouldnt buy another thing from them just my two cents

I have bought Odyssea lights four times now and have never had a problem. I have been using mine for a little over 2 years and have never had mine malfunction. However, it has been noted that many times, these lights do not ship well and a lot of times they arrive broken. Another reported problem is that their customer service department is not very responsive. I do not have any experience with this, as I have never had a problem with them before. I emailed them once with a question and they replied very helpfully within 2 days.

I don't have any experience with them but wanted to say that any lights I have purchased online have always come with broken bulbs. I myself shipped a set that I sold to someone in Florida from where I live in Tucson and they got there fine. It was only because they were packed properly. UPS has a tendency to throw things around and all I did was pay a bit extra for them to pack it and be responsible and they shipped ok.

seems there is some mixed response on purchasing lighting online and from Odyssea. I myself have bought an orbit pc fixture and was very happy with it except for the fact that i really cant use it for the intended purpose of the reef im planning on setting up (clams,bubble tips,etc.)thanks everyone for your replies

i have the 72 inch metal halide and three of my friends also hvae them and they all work great with the exception of one bad bulb in one light.I have had two of them now from that company and everything is perfect.

i have 48" dual pc and mine arrived ok, work fine, but are a bit noisey( keep in mind that i upgraded from cheao lighting, so have nothing to compare them to)............on the bight side, when friends,family and nieghbors come over, they are really impressed by the noise, they think you really got something expensive there,,,,kinda think about it they are expensive
