OFF TOPIC: Starwars: Episode II

I went and saw Starwars today and I was really dissapointed. I'm a huge Star Wars fan I have to say this is pretty close to Phantom Menace. The acting and dialogue was horrible. I didn't feel any excitment or connection with the characters like I did with the originals. The special effects were great except for a few. Also, some of the things don't make since, like when did a Jedi ever become afraid of flying, or when did R2D2 learned how to fly? It's worth a mantinee for the non-Star Wars fan.

I thought it was much better than Phantom Menace-- seeing Yoda fight with a light saber made it worth while... one thing i would have to say is that i think lucas made a mistake filming on digital... still not high enough quality-- looked ok on most scenes, but any "real" (not CGI) wide angle shots are fuzzy-- for outdoor, wide angel shots, you cannot replace celluloid yet....

Y2SAYS is it really that bad on acting :(
I remember watching epsisode I at the theaters, the acting was terrible, the only thing that saved the movie was Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor's acting and the special effects.
So as I am a Huge Fan I'm going to go see episode II and III.

Slick, the boards are not only a way of learning more about SW, but learning more about the people that are in SW. If you don't wish to read this post, then it is your choice, that is the reason for the OT at the beginning of the post. The better we get to know the others on this board, the more sincere and true the advice seems to become. This is a simple way to talking to the others on the board, if you don't want to read it, don't.

I agree with Demo. It's another way of knowing what kinds of people are out there.
Episode II was better than Phantom Menace, but I feel that Lucas ran out of ideas. A lot of what happens in this movie was already done in the previous ones. I also don't like how it's film with a digital camera. I don't think it's a 100% yet. I just hope the last one will be as exciting as the old ones.

I don't think that he will ever make another star wars trilogy like the first one.
I read somwhere that this will be his last star wars trilogy to make :(

I saw the movie with low expectations but came out smiling. It was definitely better than the phantom menance. Though the dialog wasn't that great it was definitely worth watching. The fighting scene with Jengo fett(spelling?) also the last scene with Yoda were great!
As for all of you that don't want too see off topic posts - DON'T READ THEM! No one is forcing you to read it so quit complaining. This is a saltwater fish + reef board but that is not the only thing governing our lives. I love hearing some off topic subjects to learn about those I share my hobby with. News about family, births and other hobbies make this board a better place to visit.

Saw it last night and I have to agree that it's better than Phantom Menace and worse than the first 3. Story line has always been there sort of, but the actors are just not that good,(must be the directing cause I've seem em all act well in other movies) so wooden, no reason to really care about em. Heck I would have married Luke or Han and I wanted to be Princess Leya but not that whiny Aniken. I'm sorry but I just don't see this Aniken becoming the Darth Vader of old, he just doesn't have it in him.....there was some pretty good jedi fighting though and Yoda kicked butt. And by the way Slick this movie does have a connection to sw, there is a scene that shows just exactly how to kill those pesky mantis shrimp. :D

Wow, look at Slick. We've got a little damsel telling Y2SAYS (a Blackcap Basslet) and Javajoe
(a Titan Trigger) what they should and should not post. Hmmmm, I guess with his few days of experience on this message board, he understands the do's and don'ts of posting more than members that have been here for months. Slick, you indeed have a special and rare talent.

I saw Attack of the clones the other night And I enjoyed it. I to am a huge Star Wars fan. Not that the Phantom Menance & Attack of the clones were not as good as the originals but sequals or prequels never are. The reasons originals are generally better than the followers are that it is an original idea. Not only that but I think our judgment and opinion as to rather we liked or disliked the two prequels has a lot to do with the fact that we actually know what is gonna happen and that we know who will become who and where the story line will go. Also I believe that George knew that that ANEW HOPE, EMPIRE STRIKES BACK , AND RETURN OF THE JEDI. Were better story lines and that is why he made them first. I mean considering that the Phantom Menace was basically about taxes I thought it was a pretty good film, Yes Jar Jar was rather annoying but can anyone deny the the two awsome fight scenes with Darth Maul? Not to mention how menacing he looked. SO in my opinion no the episode I and II were not as good as the Empire Strikes Back but if we had not seen the others we would have loved them! Also acting is only a small part as to weather a movie is good or not. Case and point Arnold and Sly, neither can act to save their life yet we have all seen and like both Terminators and most of the Rocky series! I dont expect anyone to agree with me but it is my .02
P.S. why is everyone so darn angy on this board?

Slick if you're so worried about time wasted on off-topic posts why do you keep coming back to this one? Why don't you stick to learning the basics and ignore the ot posts. Read a book and chill out.

DINHOUSE: I do have to agree with you about how we were pre-exposed to the originals. That's maybe why we're not as satisfied as we wanted to be. Our expectations were too high. I think the kids that saw Episode I and II probably likes is a lot.

hey slicker this is the first OT post I've replied to, there's other people telling jokes talking about their familys and so on.
If you don't care about star wars just leave us fans alone. Dinhouse I too agree that we were pre-exposed to episode IV, V , and VI so it makes the other 2 movies look not so good. There's nothing like Han and Chewie blastin storm troopers :D
DUN-DUN-DUN.

We all have bad days slick - apology accepted ;)
Off topics are neither encouraged nor prohibited.
I post OT now and then - I too enjoy sharing and reading OT discussions.
Getting to know each other this way sometimes allows a better understand of one's viewpoint regarding the hobby.
Not always - but sometimes.
We've not seen this movie yet but may see it soon. If not - home surround sound and DVD is always a choice down the road.
Not quite the same as the big screen though <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

I apologize if this offends anyone, but most of the "trekkie-type-but-for-starwars" need to lighten up... I dont think anyone else could do a better job and theres nothing you can change about complaining... no offense to the die-hard fans, but theres more to life than star wars..
Drew :)
