OFF TOPIC: Starwars: Episode II

I enjoyed "watching" the movie. If they would have left out all of the dialog and just put in music and sound effects, the movie would have been simply terrific. Instead, I had to sit through the most mind numbingly dumb dialog I have ever experienced. Great scenes with a lot of bad acting. Mcgregor was ok, everyone else can bite me.

Yes,there might be some bluring or fuzzy effect with digtal filming and i dont think the resolution is as high as print but that will be the future of viewing movies in the theater. The thing about digital projection equipment is that its price is very high, some projectors of digital {dlp} or digital light proccessing can cost anywere from $180,000 to $300,000 dollars per screen but no more print and that means no more reels to splice together to put on a platter system and of course what it would cost to rent the movie. The movie houses that make the change from 35mm and 70mm will be using dvd or satalite or harddrives and/or in conjuction with all three.Since the process is expensive technicolor and another companie will for the owners install the equipment and take a percentage of the profits untill its paid off or a small percent untill the theater is no longer showing movies. The theaters make more money from the concession stand than anything else anyhow.

Hi,
Has anyone seen it in a digital theater? Just wondering how big of a difference it is, I would imagine a dramatic one. I am looking forward to checking it out.

I haven't seen it yet. I'm hoping to go tonight!! :D
I've never considered myself a "trekkie" type. I just enjoy the heck out of the fantasy of all the Star Wars genre.
I read that in order to get the full digital effect, the movine has to be played at a digitally equiped theater. Some say Lucas made a big mistake filming digitally because of so few theaters that have the digital projection equipment.
I've also read that Lucas has always planned this to be three triolgies. Parts 7. 8 and 9 are somewhere in the "galaxy far, far away" that is his mind.

me personally, as closet star wars freak (i have read quite a few of the books) think that episode II is way better than episode I, and on par with 4-6. with time it might even be my favorite. yeah lucas has some of the same themes, but c'mon yoda with a lightsaber or the jedi arena fight? that was just amazing. so i dont care what anyone thinks, i am extremely happy with episode II, even if there is a sappy love story (but it is needed to make the last 3 complete and to stick to the story line)

I thought visually the movie was awesome, kind of like the great epic movies of like Lawerence of Arabia. Too bad all the acting felt stale and forced (no pun intended). Seeing Yoda fight was pretty cool.
Anybody attend the convention in Indianapolis?

We saw it the night it came out...not the midnight on wed, but at 10:50pm thrusday. a comerical came on, sinner said i want to see that, so we went (last day of school, nothing else to do).
i liked it. i don't remember the first one...
i would have liked to see jar jar in it more...
when yoda (sp) kicked butt i laughed, then he picked his cane back up...little dude can fight.
we don't normaly spend the money to see at the movies but this one was worth it. effects would not have been the same a on tv or computer screen.
since i've never read the books, and had no expectations i'd say it was a good movie. it held my attention and it was better then packing...

I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan. I've liked it since I was 7(I'm 16 now). I saw it opening day and I didn't find anything wrong with the acting/dialog(with the exeption of Padme). I thought Obi-Wan and Mace Windu(bye bye Jango) were great in the movie. The arena battle was spectacular as was Yoda/Anakin/Obi-Wans battle with Dooku(anyone who disagrees with me their is NOT a Star Wars fan). I found nothing wrong with the storyline either and I thought it was cool when they revealed the plans for the Death Star. I also enjoyed seeing young Boba Fett with his "dad" Jango Fett. It was awesome finally seeing all the Jedi fighting together in the arena and watching Jango get his head cut off by Mace. It was cool seeing how the clone(storm)troopers were made.
The high lights of this movie for me were seeing how the clonetroopers came too be and the Jedi fights. I'll probably see the movie again this weekend :D
In closing, I think it was a great movie and definetly on par with the classics.
I give it a 8.5/10

I saw it in a digital theater but haven't seen it regular film. The special effects were amazing and was a visual masterpiece. If you are going to see it make sure you go to a digital theater. I'm predicting that the last episode will be the best.
