Oh poo... I think Meowzer has given me her luck!

Sorry Meowzer or maybe you should be happy that I have inherited your luck. I got two mp10's a couple of weeks ago. Then I purchased a knobby starfish to replace the one my sebae devoured. I think we know how the story goes. The starfish was cruising the tank and managed to get entagled on my mp10. Now, no legs were severed. What are the chances for survival? I will post pics when I have access to my pc (on phone now).

Sorry Krista......,my star only lost one leg, and it was starting to grow back..then the star just started to shrink and disintegrate :( till it was all gone
not sure if the incidents were related or not BUT, they do say if the disc is intact it can recover.....IDK though....

I don't know if this means anything for the prognosis, but he has done 3 laps around my tank. He is going super fast.

With no legs????    I have NO idea

LOL.... I said no legs were severed. Everything is intact. I did break some spikes trying to pry him off. That did not work so I put the wet side of the pump on the sand bed and he freed himself.

Always if a critter is caught in a power head, just unplug it and wait to see if the critter can get away on it's own...I even had tube anemones untangle themselves. Your star may think it's under attack because it feels pain, I don't think they have any eyes. So if you scraped his skin and ripped a knob off...ouch.
Can you put mesh like a womans stocking over the pump?

Looks good......I think I am done with stars :( my orange died.....and remember the big blue one I got.....it recently disintegrated too :(
I do have a sand sifting star that seems to be doing great....BUT I do not want to be the killer of any more stars :( I know it can't be the tank

I feel the same way this is my second knobby. My anemone ate the first one. If this guy dies, I'm done with stars.
I did a lot of research on the blue linckia stars when I first got my 55 and I found out that they were supposedly incredibly difficult to care for. For some reason, they don't do well being captured and shipped. Also, I learned they liked to hide in caves and I wanted a star that cruise through the tank and not just be in the rocks.
