I grew up in Oakdale and live out in Shirley right now. I hate Country Critters as well. WAY overpriced and the owner is a %&*#, although they do usually have some cool stuff there. I wonder if the sold the Lumpfish? Probably convinced some guy that it would be great in a reef tank...
I like Aqua Hut and Pet Warehouse in Lindenhurst much better.

LOL, I'm sure they convinced some unknowing sap to buy it. I basically live at Aqua Hut, they're right down the road from me. I found this new place, Tropical Island Aquariums in Deer Park not too long ago. The place is small, but he's got some really nice coral and very healthy fish. Fish are decent prices (not like Aqua Hut) and the coral is a little pricey for some things, but the quality is excellent. Did you hear they're opening a new Pets Warehouse in Selden? So, since you hate CC, ever been to Suffolk Fish and Reef? You wanna see outrageous prices? Go there....

I've been the SCFR a number of times but never bought anything. I got major attitude from one of the owners not too long after they opened. I heard they were there and stopped in to check the place out and when I told the guy that I was just stopping in to look he gave me a huge attitude that made me never want to spend any money there...
I didnt know about Pets Warehouse... I went to school with the wife of one of the owners so I'll have to ask her about that. Aqua Hut is by far my favorite shop. The owner, Don is great and I am friends with another guy, Tony, that works there. He's the one with the long brown ponytail. Very cool guy and REALLY knows his stuff.
