your tank looks nice....i would suggest getting some better lighting if you are going to keep clams. Feed DT's with small clams most larger 4"+ dont need dt's feed to them.
My personal opinion would be to toss the fake coral you have in the tank. I feel it takes away from the beauty.
I think you have a good start to your tank but please look into upgrading your lighting you can do this fairly cheap
as far as your clam goes....feed it some dt and maybe try to get him hire up in the tank if you have a level spot he can sit on

i was told that metal halide is the better way to go but that it would involve a whole new ballast system that could cost upwards of $400 or so. now is it possible just to get better bulbs and keep the ballast system? if so, what type of bulbs do you recommend?
the feeshstore that i got the clam at told me that they need very efficient lighting. i did suggest what you said, as far as moving him closer to the lights but they said that these clams prefer to be in the sand. "don't be suprised if you put him on the rocks and find him right back in the sand when you come home from work."
also, what's DT?

you can get mh much cheaper then 400 email me mdguz35@yahoo.com
Im sorry but IMO pc will not cut it for the dresa or squomosa clams. DT is a green liquid phytoplanktin you can buy it at most lfs you direct feed your clam with it. your clam seems big enough to where it may not need it but may be lacking in light. It is true that if you put him up on a rock you may find him back on the sand. It depends on his footing.
But email me about mh and Im sure I can help you.
what size tank and more detail about your setup.

This method has the potential to spread pieces around the tank . . . I would advise against it.
Look for a past thread by Timsedwards on "the basics of aptasia" . . . .
