and now my heni butterfly has ich(
not cool). I am going to set up a 28 gallon qt. I have the tank empty now but it s set up for freshwater less than a week ago. What do I need to do to get it ready for saltwater?

Add salt, a heater, power head, and biological filtration. If the Banner is in the display with other fish then they ALL need to be treated, not just him. What all is in the display? How many fish, lbs of rock, coral?

Beth has an excellent archived thread about setting up a QT and treating Ich.
Check that out and if something is unclear ask away...

First, go get yourself a sponge filter and put into your DT or sump. Get your 28 setup with salt, heater, powerhead. Decide whether you want to treat with hypo or copper. If you are doing hypo, fill tank only halfway and dilute (over a 36-48 hour period) after moving the butterfly. Move sponge filter into QT. You're only treating one fish so you won't need too much bacteria buildup to sustain the filtration. Let display run without fish 4-8 weeks to make sure no ich parasite remains.
