Morning all

I think I am just about set with my new reef tank...I hope:joy:
Been cycling for 7 wks now.
I have a 55g/L Contents:
Emp. 400 bio-filter (plus aqua clear 300 just in case)
maxi jet 900 power head (should be here any day now)
48' Aqualights (coralife) Deluxe Series- Double Linear strip w/ 2 65 w Actinic and 2- 65 w 10,000k compact flo. lamps straight pin base w/2 cooling fans (also should be here any day now)
sub. heaters
Tank contents:
about 6 turbos
and a few damsels
30lbs LR
also add B-Ionic daily
Was wondering at what time I should add a protein skimmer? I was told I did not need it just now as I was still cycling. Was concidering Seaclone 100.
Water condtions:
Sal. 1.022
Ammo. 0ppm
Nitrite 0.ppm
Nitrate 5
PH 8.4
will be getting a ca.test kit this weekend.
Do I have everything or am I forgeting something? Can't wait to get my 1st coral, prob. mushrooms of some type and a bubble(just love the bubbles

I would definately get your skimmer asap, and if you haven't done it ,I would do a 25% water change. Also don't dose anything without testing for it. And the most important thing to remember is patience. Other than that everything looks pretty good.

A water change removes the bad stuff in your water (nitrates, phosphates etc) and replaces it with new water and trace elements, it also helps to keep your pH, alk and Ca in the correct levels. Are you testing for alk? becareful dosing something you are not testing for.
If you are going to have corals and inverts you will want your salinity to be 35 or 1.025 at 78 degrees.

I'll second that! Lots of LFS will dump chemicals and additives on you to make some more $$$... if you don't test for it do not add it because you'll never know how much / little is actually
making it into your tank

And yeah, get a skimmer! People say they don't use them but I think they are a must IMO.
