I spent the last few months defending my SeaClone 100 skimmer from people saying they were cheap. Well, I went out and got an AquaC Remora for my 30 gallon tank just to see the difference, if it was the same I would take it back a deal I made with the LFS. Well the first day I was disappointed, lots of micro and macro bubbles. Went to bed woke up and checked it and I had 1/4" of the grossest brown fluid. I emptied it went to work came home and in 8 hours had the same amount again....It's been a week and it's just getting seasoned with little bubbles and skimming like mad. Moral of the story: Don't skimp on a skimmer...LOL

But for someone like me who doesn't have alot of money,(i'm 14), would a seaClone be fine and still get crap out well?

You think your seaclone sucked? I bought a visi-jet..... the model that was produced BEFORE the seaclone. I don't have the money to buy a new skimmer yet, but you can bet I'm replacing this piece of garbage.
It produces NO airbubble on its own. I had to hook up an air pump to it to get bubbles....and when it is set up like that, it spews them all over the tank.

Yea I've also recently bought the Seaclone 100 for my 50 gal. I ordered it online a few days ago so I havn't received it yet. Hopefully it's half decent. I bought it because I buy a lot of Marinelands products like Instant Ocean salt. I also bought it because it's price was very attractive.($60). I also like hopkins6 don't have money due to the fact that I'm only 15 so I can only make money from my job at my local fish store.
Hopefully it'll be ok.

It's kind of funny to read this. No offends vito525 but a lot of us catch a lot of grief when we push quality products... like we are some kind of superficial group of yuppies. Fact is, a lot of us have done just what you did… buy cheap, upgraded, seen the difference.
Thanks for sharing!! Maybe others will learn from this.

It doesn't work! Don't buy one! I'm not trying to be mean, but how many people have to post about their bad experiences with SeaClone before you'll stop asking, "Will it work ok?" If that is all you can afford, I guess just make due. If you can wait and buy something better, then that is what is recommended.

You know, I think it is really odd how a company like Aquarium Systems can market a product called a "venturi skimmer that will produce a thick, powerful amount of microbubbles", and it produces absolutely no bubbles. You think they would get sued or something.
The performance is so bad, it can be compared to a car company marketing a car with wheels that don't rotate. It boggles me how they get away with it. Did the engineers actually say "It doesn't work, lets mass produce it anyways."

The fact that you do not have a lot of money (because you're young :) ) should be the very reason to save up for QUALITY equipment. That way you only have to buy it "once".

Mudplayerx,
Do you mean Aquarium Life Support Systems? I have one of those. It came with a Rio PH, and didn't work too good until I shortened the tubing that feeds it. I get about 1/4 inch of green sludge in the cup per day.
The reason I ask is that I was wondering if my skimmer was working well, or just working. Any thoughts?
I have a 55 with 80 lb of LR, some softies, zoos, etc.
Bioload comes from 2 percs, 1 yellowhead jawfish, one lawnmower blenny, and 1 royal gramma -- all fed every 1-2 days.

Nope, the Italian-made "Aquarium Systems" brand name. The model is a Visi Jet. It is a terrible piece of junk. If you are getting any kind of bubbles or green stuff then you don't have the worthless thing I do :p

i woudl like to get a protein skimmer for my 29 eclipse tank. mainly because iw ould like to upgrade the lighting on it so i could get some soft corals. Does anyone have a good suggestions for a skimmer that doesnt hang on the back of the tank? I would need one that owuld be inside or at least a flat surface to hook onto the side so i can actualy close to eclipse top. Anyone else have any experience with eclipses and protein skimmers?
thanks for any feedback.
(sorry to go off topic... but its kinda not...seeing how im trying not to buy a realy bad one, but at the same time, not tyring to spend 250 bucks....)
