BTW a durso may not fit, I'd consider a stockman or the hurfo gurgle buster

There is no doubt you will have a noisy overflow. If the aquarium is in a room were the noise doesn't bother you. Then what you have is ok. If it does bother you, you have 2 choices,
Durso standpipe, or add a ball valve between the overflow & sump. Close the ball valve back just enough to back the flow up over the 3 1/2in pipe you have now.
Be warned everyone will bitterly argue against backing the flow up with a ball valve.
I skipped the durso standpipe & backed the flow up with a ball valve. I've had my system this way for over 6 months without any problems. Why everyone argues against it, I don't know?
Like I said before, I'm just adding food for thought. The choice is up to you...

Yep, VB as well for me. I'm just off Rosemont Rd and 264. Are you a member of any of the local reef clubs or forums as well? We have a couple to choose from.

well i've got an idea how you can make a silencer... would definitely be easier if that piece wasnt glued already, but i think you can make it work
when i get home, i'll take a couple pictures of what i did. is basically the gurgle buster, but simplified even further.

Great design..
I've been playing with Ideas for the 30 long that i'm going to use on my 90. From following this thread I think I've give it a try. Keep posting on how it works on your system.
