I wanted to clean my live rock today thats in my display and don't know how I should do it. In my QT the only chemical I have had to add is Rid-ICH, will it be safe to clean live rock in this? I also have done two 50% water changes in my QT since using Rid-ICH if that matters. If ok to do it this way does SG, PH, temp and everything have to be the same?
Also what do yall use to clean the rock, an old toothbrush or something?

If u use carbon in your QT it will get rid of any medication that may still be in the water.
I don't see a problem in cleaning your rock in your QT.

why would you do this in a QT tank? Do what Teresa said or use fresh saltwater. get a spray bottle and flathead screwdriver to assist removal or whatever your trying to remove. Only thing I do this for is bubble algae.

well I have never cleaned it I cycled my tank with it and it just looks like crap. when you look at the rock its all clogged up looking with like crud ya know. I thought with cleaning it it would help things to grow and breath better.

Just get a turkey baster and blow the junk off. You can use a soft tooth brush too (new one). I wouldn't do this in the QT. You are basically taking nitrates and putting them in your QT. If you really feel you need to clean the rock I suggest waiting until a water change in the display tank and use the changed water while in a bucket. Just put a rock in there and scrub away. Then all the junk you didn't want gets thrown out. You want your QT to be nitrate free. Scrubbing junk into it is going to make that difficult.

You can leave the mushrooms out for quite a while. I've probably had them out at least 10 minutes. And I've had hitchikers last 30-40 minutes only being damp. But I would be very careful about scrubbing them with anything.
