OK to feed fresh shellfish?

I bought a single fresh mussel at the fish counter today. Can I drop it in for my clown trigger? I don't want to drop any parasites into the tank too. Should I blanch it first? Or should I just forget about the whole thing?

It will be fine to put a grocery store mussell in the tank.

I dropped it in, it slammed its shell shut, and nobody can get into it!
Should I add "1 mussel" to the bottom of my fish list? :notsure:

My guess is that it wont be too long before the trigger gets that shell open. IT'll give him something to do in the mean time.
