ok to use a metal strainer to get out LR die off and CC?

is it ok to use a metal strainer for pasta and stuff in my tank to get out crushed coral that i ahve on top my livesand and some die off from LR?

yes but i am going to take out all the live rock since i had to take out about 20 pounds. i have about 20 more pounds taht i will take out before. i have a puffer and trigger. if they dont mind is it ok for me to do?

one of the wires from the mesh could break lose and be eaten by a fish
