Ok got all the tank setup... my and my GF set it up today... Had some snags along the way.. We had problems trying to figure out where to put it... have to move stuff on our wall later as its not centered now... but what ever..
Cleaned the tank out.. washed our base coral out.. then started to add the water, then the power head (have some questions about that). Then put the salt in.. i must of heard wrong at LFS as i heard 1/2 cup per 5 G of water put in my salt tested it and no salinity.. on the tester.. figured something was wrong so read some more on the site as my book didn't tell me...1/2cup per G
So now we are just getting our salinity levels perfect every so often we are testing the water.. almost there we are shooting for 1.023 we are about at... 1.021 - 22. But our water is a little too warm so waiting till it cools...
We are missing a piece that goes on our filter that goes under the water not sure if I need it as it was missing from the box..
And the Power Head is on and so is the Filter....

This came with the power head.. something for flow rate! It fell off to i need to have it on? working good without...

This is what piece that i didn't add on. as i'm missing #7 from pic do i need?

Now time to wait let the tank settle then get some LR...
(my GF wanted this) :cheer:

you might want to rethink the crushed coral bed and go with sand. Lots of people don't like it because it traps in a bunch of junk. other than that good luck with the tank.

I have a filter that is the same brand and I don't think you will need the pieces you left off.....But, they are nice to have.....If your filter somehow gets clogged then this air inlet will make it so that the water can't be pumped out and onto the floor......You also don't need the piece for your powerhead, but is used to change the flow.....

thanks for the PH advice.. will be going to LFS to get the pieces that are missing but i think we might of gotten the wrong one that come with the aquarim.. as we don't even have the right modle number on the instructions... we have a biowheel 200.. is it me or does the motor or spinning whell supose to be QUITE or loud? our is almost like a vibration... or rattling sound...

Your LFS should carry live sand. In a smaller set up like yours, I would recommend sand. Have your LFS order you some sand if they can, that way they pick up the shipping costs.

Also, just a safety pointer...From your pics I don't see a GFCI, you should definitely get one for that outlet and also, you should mount that power strip upside down under your stand to prevent and drips or leaks into an outlet

It can sound like a rattling when you don't have it lined up right with the intake tube.....take the tube that runs into the tank out and try and put it in again......if you get it right on it shouldn't make any noise......or you can just try to shake it a little bit.....

you can install your own GFCI outlet or buy a plug in GFCI and then plug your equipment into it.
That crushed coral will turn into a headache down the road. Easier to replace now than later. Are you going to get live rock? What about a power head?

If you're getting live rock, you don't necessarily need to get live sand. If you get regular sand from lfs, the LR will seed the sand, and soon enough it will be "live sand". You will probably save money, too--live sand is usually more expensive and a little more difficult to find in most stores.

Really you can get a plug that goes into the wall that has a gfci unit already on it.. cool.. might have to run down to rona and check it out..
Ya i know on the CC but LFS didnt' have LS... but yes we are going to get LR in about a week letting the tank settle... and get my levels right...

Keep us updated and keep asking questions! We are kind of a nano family (bad joke, I'm sorry) and we help each other out! But seriously, feel free to ask questions because we have all gone through it once or twice. Also, the best way to learn is through experience. You will get the hang of things in no time!

ok next thing on the list a Testing kit?? what is a good one to get? as i see that Aquarium Systems "Ocean Master" Test Kit (Includes Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Alkalinity and pH test kits) for $51.99 cdn... is there a good one for beginers? have to order a Mag-Float 30 Small - for Glass Only up to 3/16" (5mm) thick so it alot cheeper to order online than LFS...

I use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kits and haven't had a problem although most will say Saliferts rank supreme.

Are you sitll having bubble problems with your tank. If so that piece that came off your pump can stop that. It is used to adjust the amount of air that mixes with the water coming out of the pump. I closed that adjuster all the way to only have water flowing out and no bubbles.
Also i have the same type of filter (only the 400 model) and i had that same question. My filter came with piece 7 but it made the filter to long. So i just kept the thing out.
