Also i have the same type of filter (only the 400 model) and i had that same question. My filter came with piece 7 but it made the filter to long. So i just kept the thing out.
all good here, i tired to put the hose on today to see it it works.. no go i had to blow in the hose to get any bubble to come out..????

ok all setup, now just waiting till next week to get some LR.. cleaned all the cords up.. and ordered some stuff cheeper than out here..
oh and added our Reef builder to the water.. what a pain it is geting the mesurment right..
well not much more I can do right now... have to read some more...

Looks good. May I suggest a background. I recommend solid blue or black. I painted mine black but they sell backgrounds that can be taped on. Black would help your equipment blend in a little.

i also have a 200, it is just a vibration, it comes from those lids. just get a sort of heavy decoration on, not to heavy to sink your filter though

ya mine was from the water spinner.. now its all fine i think it was imbalanced.. all good and quite now...

Ok so when i have to top off my water gone down about 1/4 inch from wen.. do i just add normal water without salt?

They sell aquarium safe glass cleaners. Or you can use warm water and vinegar with newspaper for a streak free clean

Is there a reason why you aren't using RO/DI water? Tap water is bad for this hobby.

I disagree. While there are certain risks you take using tap water, many have used it without any problems when it is tested and treated properly, including a one Robert M. Fenner. I think it depends on the quality of your city's tap water. Here in Ann Arbor the water tests fine for aquariums, however, at 39 cents a gallon RO/DI is just as easy to obtain.

ya our LFS even said that they use city water without problem....

Excellent point. I wasn't thinking. The tap here is awful.
