Ok just talked to Seachem about my tests and they said to do the Free Ammonia that is the NH3 test... here are my new samples but damm they are hard to read... the acuracy
Ammonia .188 mg/l
Nitrite .003
Nitrate .2
i see that most books read ppm?? what is the diff

I wish my book was more clear on how to cycle a tank.. buts its not

Wierd I don't think I've seen ammonia in mg/l normally its meq/L but I haven't seen that when measuring ammonia just ppm. You might consider another thread.
You need to understand that your live rock will have die off and would have cycled on its own withouth the shrimp. You are already showing nitrite which breaks down ammonia and then nitrate breaks down nitrite. You can take the shrimp out if you want. If the stench is bad you could just feed the tank flakes if you choose.
This might help Bang Guy's Cycle Method

i don't really smell it unless i open the lid and smell it. so i still could leave the shrimp in i guess..
Ya i looked again and it says in mg/L (NH3)
so just waiting to see what will happen next..
but the thing i know is to wait don't rush.. but i ask questions is because the book i got and even went to chapters last night to skim book on cycling is that they don't' really tell you what to expect with the cycle in terms of values.. just that the ammonia will go up then the nitrite then they will fall down and then the nitrate will go up (if i mixed up opps)...
Any books that really show this?? info.. i got the marine reef aquarium hand book.

Your levels will vary with others but the important thing is to make sure that your ammonia doesn't go above 0.5ppm because it will harm any life good or bad in your live rock or sand (but you have cc). Some experience hight levels of ammonia and have to do this water change and others dont. It's very easy, just continue checking your levels until amm and trite are at zero and your cycle is done. Below is an example but as it states "your mileage may vary."

the color for ammonia and nitrate are not even needed. They should be zero. If nitrates become hard to read you might try purchasing a salifert test kit for nitrates down the road.

i have a seachem one and i here they are a good testing kit... just getting use to the colours...
but just might do that for my second test kit down the road... as i here the salifert are good on this site....

there are numerous species of bristle worms. A lot are good but there are some bad ones. Chances are yours is good. Keep a lookout and try to snap a picture. Your best bet of seeing it is at night time with a red cover (saran wrap) over your flashlight.
Very cool btw. I can't wait for hitch hikers.

Looks good! Your ammonia will go down and then you will see your ammonia spike. After all of your params levels out at zero after your spike you should be good to go.
PS...I wouldn't worry about testing everyday. Every 3 days or so is ok, some say you will miss the spike if you don't test everyday, but I think you'd be fine.

the brown algae is diatoms, which is normal to have in a new tank. It will go away on it's own.

thats a bristle worm aka fire worm. they are a good thing. they scavenge on left over food and eat fish poop. like 98% of all worms are good to have.
ps DONT TOUCH THEM!!! use gloves when moving rocks around cuz if one just so happens to stick its bristles into you
trust me lol
