Okay to add mushroom frag?

I would like to try a mushroom coral frag. My tank is 3 weeks old going on four. All levels test fine, except nitrates are a little high.
Lighting is MH and I'd like to know if the coral would be burned. It would be about 15"-20" from the actual light. Will it grow like crazy and multiply or melt on me?
Any other information is greatly appreciated.

I mean that the nitrates are about 5-10ppm from 0. I believe the tank is cycled, as I have tested the water and everything tested good( in terms of a reef tank).
I also added some "Aged" filter media( already had beneficial bacteria) from my older tank to this one, so more than likely it is ready for fish and etc...Not even a algea bloom yet. Or am I daydreaming? But seriously I have'nt even occured an algea bloom, except for some detritus.

I added some mushrooms after my tank was 7 weeks along and 3 weeks out of cycyle - I am getting ready to frag them now .... but I have PC lights ... you could try them in a more shaded area, but I have no experience with MH and mushrooms

like I said , try them low in the tank then raise them if they do well or see if they grow up the rock to more light:cool:

I have a 29 gal tank with 175 w MH and 36 w NO on it. I have lots of mushrooms that keep dividing and are always open all the way placed on the substrate.
