old dried on coralline algae

I bought a used tank since it was so much cheaper, but the previous owner left coralline algae all over the tank's walls. They said it sat in storage for a few years and now that I cleaned it found out that some of the algae just will not come off. I've scrubbed, used a glass scrapper, and tried using vinegar to get the stuff off. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
And for if anyone knows, is it weird that only the front glass seems to be tempered glass? Isn't the bottom usually tampered glass?

You might want to let the vinager soak for a while. Suprised you're not having any luck with the glass scraper. Try razor blades.
Not all that uncommon to find tanks made that way now adays. Just makes the front panel a little more impact resistant.

Agree... Fill the tank with tap water and add a gallon or two ( you may need more if its a big tank) of vinegar add a powerhead to circulate. Wait a day or two and it will just brush right off.

Set the aquarium on it's side with the coralline covered glass on the bottom. Pour in undiluted vinegar and let it sit a day. Use a razor to scrape off anything left after that.

I did soak paper towels in vinegar and stuck them to the sides and put plastic wrap over that and filled the bottom of the tank with about 2 inches of water/vinegar mix. I let that sit for a day, but the nothing budged. I'll try stronger vinegar and let it sit for two days this time. Thanks!
