I'm no noob. Keepin fish for 40 years. Worked 7 years at a distributor covering 5 states. Was the marine selector for 4 and did hardgoods for 3. The highlight of my career was when the curator for the National Aquarium at Baltimore called up, told the owner they were planning a big Bahama exibit and could he have me look out for a showpiece kinda fish to be the main attraction. My choice!
Anyways, donr tootin my own horn.
I have been talking fish all my life, but I'm real new to typing fish
Is there a thread for all the abreviations? I know R/O cause we always called it that, and lfs I figured out pretty quick. I sure I could help a lot of people if I only knew wtf they were talking about :notsure:

which do you want to know? Here are commonly used ones:
LFS - Local Fish Store
IMO - In my Oppinion
IDK - I Don't Know
LS - Live sand
LR - Live rock
DT - Display tank
QT- Quarentine tank
FOWLR - Fish only with live rock
There are many others. You learn the lingo on here pretty quick and if you are not sure, just ask the person who wrote it, they will clarify it for you. And BTW- By the way, Welcome!!!!! We love more knowledgeable people on here!

FOWLR was really stumping me. DT and QT I should have gotten. Thanks, I'll just ask as they come up. I just found it funny that I Knew recognised fishes Latin names and understood the technical stuff but couldn't figure out what a LS/LR DT was

lol yeah, when I was new to this board alot of it stumped me as well. I tried finding the link to the list for you( there is one) but I couldn't find it. Maybe someone else knows the link, but the list is HUGE! You will get it all in time. This is a great board, and we can always use new people who know about sw and can help others. Thanks for joining us!
