Grats on a great purchase Conner.
For what it is worth, I respect the fact that you went back and asked the price. I really do. That shows great character on your part. It would have been very easy for you to have simply never mentioned anything to the pet store.
I'll be honest with you... had this thread ended with you never posting on it again I wouldn't have thought bad about you... the "do what you can to get ahead" mentality is pretty prevelant in today's society. BUT, you went back to the pet store and asked... that's awesome. You showed more ethics than many of the adults on this thread. I hope that makes you feel better than the outrageously good deal you got.

I am glad that things turned out as they did too. This should teach you a little about being somewhat humble... that kid that worked at the store was'nt so 'stupid' after all.

2.99 a polyps sounds about right if you ask me. blasto is not rare. the only think that makes it rare is hype. the only time i think its ok to pay more then 3-4 bukcs per polyps is if its solid neon red. at that point I find 10 per polyps to be fair.

NM nicely said.
Stealing is this: If you know the round-about price of something and it is marked/or you were told a price and it's way off, and you by it. Then it is stealing.
If you have no clue at all....and then you come to this site and ask the question, "Hey is this a good deal" and you find out this way, then you did not steal and it instantly becomes an integrity issue.
This is part of the morals & values, this is where it begins.
If some one says: "you would do the same if I was in his shoes" This is a defence mechanism that justifies their inner ability to make inappropriate decisions. This erodes personal integrity and leads to other types of poor decisions.
In life, we are to do what is wright, not what we want. Temptations are all around and how we respond is what makes the difference..............

I am sure he will make the right choice for him.

I also agree that many people do owe Connor an apology. Do those people have the character to come forward and admit they were wrong?

Well that's my personal opinion!!! If I am wrong he should show some pictures!!!

It's an ethical issue. This has nothing to do with stealing.

it was a good deal conner dont let them bother you. i once bought ten cleaner shrimp for 1.99 each. i asked a manager how much they were since they were not priced she couldnt find them in the pricing manuel so she said 1.99 i said are you sure she said yes they should be priced and they are not so go ahead. i also got two seahorses from them for 8.99 the price was written on the glass. turns out they were suppossed to be 35.00 i paid what was marked. how is getting a good deal on something stealing but when you get a cool hitchhiker in a coral that is ok. you didnt pay anything for that hitchhiker you going to go back to the store and say this was in the rock i stole it. give me a break.

I dont think it was stealing, per se...but, he certainly crossed the dishonest line when he knew there was a mistake and bought a larger number than what he intended to, in the beginning.
It's not the employers fault for messing up...if the manager would have been asked, the price would have been corrected, most likely. If the manager didnt change the price, I wouldve bought out the store of said coral. But, if Conner knew the guy he was asking didnt know much about saltwater, then the blame is also on Conner for taking advantage of the situation.
