My yellow ray has jumped twice... fortunately both times I was able to get it back in the water without any serious damage. I've heard of others jumping too.

Well I just happened to have a stack of towels in my hand...I threw one over it, and carefully put it back in...Thank God I was in there... I would have died if I got up in the morning and it was dead on the rug

I don't know who is breathing heavier right now, me or the ray

It is breathing a little heavy
It buried itself in the sand right away.....do you think it will be ok??

Yeah, it will probably be fine. But it will try again at some point. Make sure you have a good lid on the tank now.

You had the openings covered and he pushed it open?? You said you added a weight. I didn't know that they could do that.

I have egg crate on top, which we know does not weigh much...apparently it was up a little, and the Ray goes up and down the side of the tank, and apparently went too far last night..LOL...I have the eggcrate so it fits snug in the frame, BUT I also added some weight on top....I am just very thankful this happened before I went to bed...I do not know what I would have done if I woke up in the morning and it was dead on the floor....Just VERY glad it wasn't.
It was fine this morning BTW

Glad to hear the ray is just fine... that would totally suck to see him on the floor dried the next day.

Glad it's ok. I have eggcrate cover too and I'm always scared that my zebra moray is gonna push it open, since the eggcrate weighs nothing. So I have a weight on top to keep it down.
I have friends coming over asking, "Why do you have a brick on top of your tank?"

dear aggressive tank owners, that is what a canopy is for. No more annoying questions on why do you have brick ontop, why your fish are able to push the eggcrate (or acrylic sheet in my case) off of the top of the tank, and NO WHERE for them to go except back down

In my old 220g, I had a 19" bamboo shark that jumped out twice. Thats what a good pair of oven mits were for. Anyway, canopy soon follwed after the 2x

Is your ray still doing okay? Are you going to add a canopy...or a weight?
LOL...At the moment I have a weight (large tank magnet) sitting on the one section that she jumped from...IDK about a canopy...I don't build things, so I would have to ask hubby to do it...he already does a lot of stuff for MY tanks cause I can't reach stuff
He's going to make my ato for me, so I son't think I'll bring up a canopy just yet...
My Ray is fine...back to normal and hungrier than ever...She is now 8" in diameter

Holy crap. Good for you. I suck at building stuff too

Don't worry.
Ato is code for flood. If I tried to make my own...that would be the result.

Glad to hear all is well.

Hopefully the weight on the tank will be fine.
