why do some fish attack their reflections in the glass? First it was my six line, now my kole tang is doing it. the kole tang is really body slamming himself into the glass, hes getting circular wounds all over his face. its so depressing and sad to watch. how can i stop it?

1. because they are stupid, compared to humans anyway.
2. they see competition, and in that regard, they are doing what comes natural.
I wouldn't worry about the sixline, as they usually figure it out and get over it. Tangs on the other hand, never get over stupid. He will probalby carry this behavior to his grave. As far as solutions, if you have access you can paint the sides/back (wherever this is happening) in black. This will eliminate the mirror effect, thus putting your fish at ease.

I have heard that you can put black paper or brown paper on the side of the tank to eliminate the mirror, and then take it off after a period of time. That way, you don't have to paint anything on your tank that you don't want to paint permanently.

all the sides of my tank are covered by rocks, its only the front side. its sooo annoying. you know how tangs have those spikes on their lower back towards the tail right. his turned red, i dont know if thats blood or if thats what happens when they get angry.
