I have been following along T - I am very fascinated by it all - their bellies turn red when they eat - over full or just perfect - I understand that them eating frozen is key to success, sorry about the stupid questions.

Its not really that thier tummys turn red, its that you can see the red food they ate thru thier skin. lol. if they over eat bbs, they just poop live food back out lol.
the real sucess if frozen mysis and purple poop. When you see purple poop, you know they are eatting the mysis. Gross huh.

you ladies need to talk my wife into doing the maintenance and feeding of horses to convince her to do it. I told her I would help, but she would have to deal with the feeding and what to feed the horses.

That's awesome! I have caught the sea horse bug, but I need a bigger tank to accommodate the horses (I only have a 16 bow front gallon to add new fish to).

I know how you feel Gemmy - i have a 38 gallon 36 x 12 X 18 I think I will make into a horse tank. What do think of that for a sizable tank for horse T.

AL- that is fine for a couple of pairs. Really anything 29 gal and above. is fine for one pair. -just remember they need to be kept on the cooler side. 77 and below. I keep my tank at 75.
Mons- There is nothing to keeping them, other then keeping thier tanks cool enough. Nothing differant then keeping a reef tank. Feedings are easy as long as you keep nothing but captive bred horses. They eat frozen mysis once or twice a day. I only feed once. some people feed morning and evening. I throw a cube in a cup of water to thaw, I have a small net that I bent the handle to hang on the tank, I rinse the mysis with tap water and hang the net. my horses come to the net to eat.
Just dont do like me and nuke your tank with flat worm exit.

no, they get between the net and the glass of the tank, get almost right in the net. its funny.

I guess I just misunderstood how you fed them. I've always seen people just drop food in like they would with regular fish when feeding horses, but I don't really know that many people that have them around me.

some people do, Some use a feeding dish, and I have not found a feeding dish I really like. They have to be cleaned every now and then. I like the net, I can take it out and clean it everyday. Its easier to use a feeding dish as far as keeping extra food out of your tank. If you dont have other things to clean up the extra food, you can run into problems. Most horses are lazy and dont like to chase thier food down. lol they get spoiled.
