:jumping: Alright, I have had my new 180 up and running for almost three weeks. I have tested for Ammonia and saw the "spike", also tested for Nitrite and saw it start to go up after about a week. Then the Ammonia already went down to zero and the nitrite has also gone down to zero and I have now tested for nitrate and there is minimal if any of nitrate. Is this cycle too short? It came with 60 lbs cured and ready live rock so there was not massive die off from the rock. It has also had three damsels since two days after it was set up. I have had the Kent Protein Skimmer running since day one and it is only going to contain aggressive fish. The lights probably total about 390w (compact and flourescent) and it seems to be enough. Does this seem to be the full cycle? Anyone's advice would greatly help so I don't add anything and kill it! Thanks All! :help:

You'll kill me if I tell you.... I got the whole setup... 180g tank, stand, 85g sump/refugium, 60 lbs of live rock, 100 lbs of 50/50 live sand and "Home Depot" sand, 310w of light, 2 overflows, Kent Te Protein Skimmer, miscellaneous things... and all for a whopping $500.00!!! Got real lucky with a guy who had to sell the whole thing right away. Overall I got probably over $2000 worth of good for $500.00!! Prett good, I'd say.:jumping: :cheer: :jumping:

To be really honest... I don't know. It came with the whole setup and I had never used one of these before and thus had never heard of there being any type of adjustment because of temperature. I will check it against my other hydrometer and see how they match up.

Hey Harle...or anyone who may read this... Do you think adding a 24" 110w power compact to the skimmer side of the sump/refugium would be enough to keep some plants in there so I can have a regfugium? Thanks!

sorry to interrupt here. 110w pc will be more than enough light for the refug.
Of course IMO you should get the plant life growing now. To avoid the ugly algaes and make the system stable and balanced.
Three weeks sounds like a good cycle to me. But don't be suprised of you get some mini cycles as you add fish.
