Im curious I have a 55 gallon tank. Running for about 4 years now. I have a shrimp cleaner, chocolate star, tomato clown, tang, damsel .. would an eel be ok to have in the tank? What do they eat?? How do you feed them? Will they bite me if I stick my hand in to clean?? Do they get big? Im thinkn a snow flake eel. Or is there an eel that doesn't get real big? What shouldn't they be mixed with? Im just looking for some basic information on them and even if they would be suitable for my tank? ? Thanks again for any help.

SFE's (snowflake eels) tend to be fine until they hit about 18"-20", and at that point, tend to go postal and start in on their tankmates...it's about a 50-50 chance at best.
And yes, they can bite. I was bitten twice...once my hand was in the tank, and the second time the eel stuck its head OUT of the water and bit me while I was changing a lamp in the canopy.
There's an eel that does stay small (10" - 12")...it's the GDM AKA golden dwarf moray (Gymnothorax melatremus). However, I have no firsthand experience with them.
