Hey,
i have had my two xenias for about
:
waving hand (pulsing): 6 weeks
pom pom xenia: 3 weeks
And my waving hand one is much healthier, and he is always open, he split several times, and he is just awsome!
.. But my pom pom is always closed, and looks so ugly.
My water parameters are:
ammonia- 0
salinity- 1.025
PH- 8.3
nitrite- 0
nitrate- 0
cal- 450
I have them both placed in low water current to they are not swaying much at all.

I have heard that xenia does better when nitrates are a little higher. Not on expert on it, but my 2 different xenias are doing fine with my nitrates at 5-10.
I have the same kinds u do.

Are you sure?
I moved him and i want to see what will happen.
He is lower, in less current, then in about a week i will move him on to higher current.

I am not sure.
I just know that my pulsing xenia did fine with little flow, and then became visibly better when I added a powerhead to the tank. I do know that xenia need a decent flow to get nourishment and expell wastes. Your pom may not be getting enough, and that may be why it isn't coming out.
It's just something to try....

I was having your same excact issue. My Pom Pom finally just melted away and I placed the dead Pom Pom rock up in a very high current area and BOOM somehow my dead Pom Pom came back and is now growing again. I would suggest putting it in a high current area hope this helps.
