One huge hairy

Hello Reefers!
This is a pic of my hairy. It is about 10 inches across. I had to move a green mushroom that wasn't getting enough light underneath. I just don't know how much larger this will get. I have had them for 20 years. They never got this big before.

i have metalic green hairy mushrooms.. very cool. mine are huge. about 4-5 inches across..

It is a Green Rhodactis. Some call it a Green Metallic.
I love how mine close up when it eats something and looks like a giant onion in the tank! So cool looking.

It is a Green Rhodactis. I will be fragging again when it cools off. I don't think I will touch that one though. It does have the perfect spot in the tank to grow. I have 3 rocks of them now and can easily pull 2 rocks out to cut the or pull the little ones off. They are really gutsy. I don't know how I can ever cut the ones that are on a 3rd rock which is too big to pull out.

yep its a rhodactis but its no where near as big as it can get!!! they can and do get HUGE at times I just forced mine to frag itself it 4 or 5 cant really tell how many it split to.
These can be very expensive depending on color and if those colors are right thats one that can fetch a pretty penny.

I am curious as how you get it to split. I can't really cut one in the tank unless I have someone standing next to me with a turkey baster ready to suck up the brown ooze.

I just kept moving mine and turning the rock they were on and it started to get aggrevated and start grabbing all the rocks when it did it started pulling apart in just a few days it split to 4 not sure if that would work for you.
I do the same thing with regular mushrooms to I started with 2 and now have about 15 on one little rock LOL
I will try to get some pics tomorrow of what they look like today.

That could work for my little rock which has only one on it. I already pulled off one from that one. The mother rock is just too packed to roll it. But, at least, that rock I can take out of the tank. Thanks for the idea!
I would like to see your current pics of it. Don't you just love that way they close up on food!
