one lonely clown

I have a 46 gallon bowfront that's been set up for 6 wks with approx 20 lbs of live rock, 1" live sand, crushed coral below. Will be fish-only.
I bought my first fish on Saturday - 2 perc clownfish. LFS picked out a 1" guy and a smaller one. I'm very sad to say that the smaller of the two got sucked into the AquaClear Powerhead (402, using w/o undergravel filter - instead using a Fluval canister - per recommendation of LFS). I've since been back to the LFS and bought some spongy stuff to wedge in the bottom of the adapter cone but I'm not convinced anything smaller than the 1" clown will survive in the tank. I do NOT want another death :nervous:
Question: How long should I wait to introduce another fish? Recommendations on what kind? I understand I'm limited by the size of my tank. I like the Saddle Valentini Puffer, and understand he can handle a small tank. Dwarf Angel? Are there any Tangs that could be happy in an 46 (yellow?). Or, could I go more agressive with a 1" trigger, knowing he can only stay in this tank for a year or two? Thanks for the help!!!

defintitly stay away from the trigger. Not a real good idea. A yellow tang is possible but your tank will defenitly be pushing it. They need a lot of swimming room. Dwarf angels are good in that size, though they need an established tank to thrive. I would go with a royal gramma and a six line wrasse alond with 2 percs. That would makea nice fish selection for your tank. Maybe you can ven add some gobies since they stay hidden in rockworks most of the time.

The same exact thing happened to my clown. and Same exact Powerhead. All was left of the clown was the orange skin. :scared:
