One more large aggressive???

Well, next week I will have a significant vacancy in my tank when my eppaullette shark goes to his new home (1200 gallon lagoon
). So I'm looking for ideas about one or two final fish to re-complete my tank.
Here are the specs: 225 gallon tank with yellow stingray, blue hippo, purple tang, blond naso, miniatus grouper, black volitan lion.
My wife wants something colorful. Thinking about a large yellow tang or some other tang but I'm not sure. Any other ideas??

I love harlequins and have never actually owned one. I wonder if one would nip at my ray. I think it would be a gamble but it's an intriguing idea.

I am not sure if they are nippy towards rays. I know invertebrates are toast with them and they tend to leave most fishes alone but never heard of a Tusk/Ray combination. I figured I would suggest the fish because you wanted colorful and showy and the Tusk definitely has both going for it.

Any other ideas? I have tossed around the idea of even getting a cowfish or trying to find a large, healthy pinnatus batfish. Really, there are a lot of fish that would work, as long as they are large enough.

I'm not a big fan of the giant hawk. The hogfish is a good idea. Although, I'd need something at least 6-7" long to hold its own in my tank. Haven't seen many that big.

I would say Tusk too, except for that Miniatus. I just had to sell my 8" Mini as I was adding a Aust H. Tusk to my 240 FOWLR. He had already killed 1 indo and was torturing my Yellow Tang.
I would also be concerned about the Purple and Yellow Tang fighting. Could cause stress in one or the other and lead to an ich outbreak. Just keep it in mind.
Here is my stock list on my 240g, pretty close to yours. The only fish I have left to pick-up is my Blond Naso Tang, but it won't be long.
Volitan Lionfish
Yellow Tang
Aust Harlequin Tusk
Queen Angel
Blond Naso Tang Male w/ streamers
Snowflake Moray Eel
Brazilian Golden Moray Eel
Jumbo Maroon Clownfish
Small Niger Trigger
You should also consider a Foxface. Colorful, active, and not an ich magnet and shouldn't fight with anyone. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the feedback people. A large foxface may be a good fit. The wife really wants a yellow tang so, if I can find one that is significantly bigger than the purple, I may give it a shot. A colorful eel would be cool but, unfortunately, most of the colorful morays (banana, dragon) are outrageously expensive. I'm still intrigued by the challenge of a pinnatus bat. I think they're awesome. The only problem is that I don't see this fish very often, and I wouldn't get one unless it was the right size and extremely healthy. Could be a while before I found one to fit the bill.

If you moved your ray into your lagoon then the angel, puffer, and triggers would go great in the tank. Can we see pics of the lagoon? Please?

It's not my lagoon. My shark's being put out to stud, (donated to someone with the lagoon to breed epps).

I dont know Anything (really, no joke) about fish so take this with a grain of salt
(my only fish are a NEW fuzzy dwarf, a mandarin-yes he is fat and eating frozen, and my goby) I generally stick with inverts and corals, and then a few HIGH maintenence fish ( at least thats how they feel
)
I would go with a EEL.
They definetly add some individuality and charecter to a tank and they are available in so many different colors and sizes.Even the big 'ole green morays are just captivating to watch.
I dont know anything about compatability with an eel and your current inhabitants... but being a girl, and loving COLOR in the tank, I think a eel would be a definite possibility. And maybe your wife would agree?

Actually I agree with you. My tank would be perfect for an eel right now. With my shark gone, there is nothing swimming in the rockwork in a regular basis and the aggression level should work well with my fish. The only issue with an eel is that I really want something colorful. When I think about colorful eels, I think of a dragon moray or banana moray (don't want to spend that much), blue ribbon (not a good fit in my tank) or a green moray (too big). Other than those, I cannot think of another that would be reasonably priced, colorful and fit with my assortment of fish.
Inasmuch as I appreciate all suggestions, I generally do not decide the fish I am going to get until I see the right one. I like to see the relative sizes, color and overall health of the specimens before I decide. But it is nice to have ideas prior to buying. I will be going to look this weekend, maybe I'll find something perfect then.

I think thats an excellent idea. At some point you will 'connect' with a particular specimen and he will be the one you get. You never know what you will come across. Check this little guy out. Ive never seen one quite like him, and just as an example, showing that there are some really nice looking eels out there- besides the highly priced ones that most places carry.
